Juniper Networks EX3200 Ethernet Switches provide connectivityfor low-density environments. Typically, you deploy these switchesin branch environments or wiring closets where only one switch isrequired.
EX3200 switches are available in models with either 24 or 48ports and with either all ports equipped for Power over Ethernet (PoE)or only 8 ports equipped for PoE. EX3200 switches with a DC powersupply installed do not provide PoE. All models provide ports thathave 10/100/1000Base-T Gigabit Ethernet connectors and optional 1-gigabitsmall form-factor pluggable (SFP) transceivers, 10-gigabit small form-factorpluggable (SFP+) transceivers, or 10-gigabit small form-factor pluggable(XFP) transceivers for use with fiber connections.

Uplink Modules
Optional uplink modules are available for all EX3200 switches.Uplink modules provide two 10-gigabit small form-factor pluggable(XFP) transceivers, four 1-gigabit small form-factor pluggable (SFP)transceivers, or two 10-gigabit small form-factor pluggable (SFP+)transceivers. You can use XFP, SFP, or SFP+ ports to connect an accessswitch to a distribution switch.
Power over Ethernet (PoE) Ports
PoE ports provide electrical current to devices through thenetwork cables so that separate power cords for devices such as IPphones, wireless access points, and security cameras are unnecessary.
PoE is defined in the IEEE 802.3af standard. In this standard,the amount of power that can be supplied to a powered device is limitedto 15.4 W. Starting with Junos OS Release 11.1, EX3200 switches supportenhanced PoE, a Juniper Networks extension to the IEEE 302.3af PoEstandard that permits up to 18.6 W per PoE port.
EX3200 switches with an AC power supply installed have optionsof full (all 24 or 48 ports) or partial (8 ports) PoE capability.EX3200 switches with a DC power supply installed do not provide PoE.
Full PoE models are primarily used in IP telephony environments.Partial PoE models are used in environments where, for example, onlya few ports for wireless access points or security cameras are required.
