It supports the industry leading Cisco MDS 9000 SAN-OS software as well as the entire Cisco MDS 9000 product family. The Cisco MDS 9124 is ready to use with minimal configuration and requires no training to operate. The QuickConfi g Wizard simplifies and accelerates the initial activation of the fabric.
The Cisco MDS 9124 offers flexible on-demand port activation; the ports can be activated in steps of 8 ports via software licensing. In the standard basic configuration, the switch has 8 active ports.
The Cisco MDS 9124 can serve as a starting point for small independent SANs, or can be used in larger core-edge SAN infrastructures. The Cisco MDS 9124 is fully compatible with the multilayer directors of the Cisco MDS 9500 series and the multilayer fabric switches of the Cisco MDS 9200 and 9100 series for transparent provision of services.
